Truro Police Department

welcome

Chief's Welcome Message:

Welcome to the Truro Police Department’s website! We hope you will use our site to learn more about the many services and programs we offer, to stay informed about law enforcement issues in the community, and to provide us with your feedback and concerns.

The Technology and power of the World Wide Web is a natural complement to the community policing philosophy of the Truro Police Department. The Department strives to keep pace with emerging programs and methods that will help us maintain a high quality of life in Truro. We pledge to keep our Citizens and Visitors informed through this exciting medium.

The Truro Police Department continues to remain Cape Cod’s only accredited police department, a recognition achieved by the most progressive departments in the Commonwealth. The department was first awarded this status in 2002, and at the time was the fourth in the state to receive such recognition.  On May 20th, 2005, the department was once again awarded accreditation status.   There are twenty one departments that are accredited, thirteen that are certified, and another ninety one working towards certification.

As in the past, an annual report is available on our web site for you to examine the activities that your police department is engaged in.  This report is also available at different public buildings throughout town.

You will find links and other useful information on our site.  We welcome your comments and encourage you to send them to Telecommunicator Martha Wheeler.

We rely on your support just as we seek to earn and maintain your trust.  Thank you for your willingness to partner with us and for helping us to keep Truro a great place to live and visit.

As always, we stand ready to Serve, Protect and Communicate with the Community.

Sincerely,

John J. Thomas

Chief of Police
