“Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world; indeed, it’s the only thing that ever has.”  – Margaret Mead

The Truro Police Association is made up of Police Officers and Telecommunicators of the Truro Police Department.  It does not have an affiliation with any union or labor relations group. It is merely a fraternal and charitable organization within the department that allows us to give back to our community.

The Association strives to promote a high level of commitment to public safety with emphasis on community outreach. We support community needs and activities through volunteering and donations.  Sustainable Cape, the Truro Educational and Enrichment Alliance, Truro Recreation Department and the Truro Police K-9 Association are just a few of the local organizations that we support.

Members of the Association participated in Trunk Or Treat, better known as Halloween tailgating, where children could safely trick or treat from the trunks of the participating vehicles. We worked hard collecting toys for the Annual Toys for Tots “Stuff A Bus” Challenge this year.  We collected more than 700 toys that were distributed to families in need right here on Cape Cod. Our Association donated funds for “Shop With A Cop” where two local children received a $250 gift card for both school supplies and Christmas gifts.  Association members teamed up with the Truro Fire Department and Lower Cape Ambulance to take part in “Homeless for the Holidays”.  We, once again, sponsored Operation Safe Ride, which gave Truro residents a free taxi ride home on New Year’s Eve.

Our annual Senior Dinner continues to be a successful and revered event. Held in March, members of the police and fire departments prepare and cook a four course dinner for our seniors.  For the past several years the count has been close to one hundred in attendance. This will be our 28th year.

We continue to offer several scholarships to graduating Truro students who seek to further their education at a college or university.  Each year we receive more applications and our goal has been to increase the amount to our scholarship awards because of forever increasing tuition costs.

As we continue to focus outward, your support is vital to sustain these programs and enables us to develop new ones.

You should know that the Truro Police Association never conducts telephone or door to door fundraising, nor do we contract with any services that do so. This correspondence is the only way we raise money for the projects we do.

Thank you for your consideration and continued support.
