“Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens can
change the world; indeed, it’s the only thing that ever has.” – Margaret
this thought in mind, the Truro Police Association continues to look for
ways to support our residents and visitors alike. The Truro Police
Association is made up of Police Officers and Telecommunicators of the
Truro Police Department. It does not have an affiliation with any union
or labor relations group. It is merely a fraternal and charitable
organization within the department that allows us to give back to our
Members of the Association participated again in Trunk Or Treat,
better known as Halloween tailgating, where children could safely trick or
treat from the trunks of the participating vehicles. We worked hard
collecting toys for the Annual Toys for Tots “Stuff A Bus” Challenge this
year. We collected more than 500 toys that were distributed to families
in need right here on Cape Cod. Our Association donated funds for “Shop
With A Cop” where two local children received a $250 gift card for both
for back to school supplies and Christmas gifts. We also sponsored a local
family in need and bought Christmas gifts because no child should ever go
without on Christmas day. We, once again, sponsored Operation Safe Ride,
which gave Truro residents a free taxi ride home on New Year’s Eve.
We continue to donate to the Truro Central School each year for the
6th grade field trip to Washington D.C. Our Open House during Truro
Treasures Weekend included K-9 demonstrations, State Police Helicopter,
SWAT Bearcat Vehicle, Police Motorcycle and Cruiser tours, Fire Department
demonstrations and station tours.
Our annual Senior Dinner continues to be a successful and revered
event. Held in March, members of the police and fire departments prepare
and cook a four course dinner for our seniors.
For the past several years the count has been
close to one hundred in attendance.
This will be our 25th
We continue to offer several scholarships to graduating Truro
students who seek to further their education at a college or university.
A continuing education scholarship is also awarded to a college
student from Truro wishing to continue on. Each year we receive more
applications and our goal has been to
increase the amount to our scholarship awards because of forever
increasing tuition costs.
As we continue to focus outward, your
support is vital to sustain these programs and enables us to develop new
You should know that the Truro Police Association never conducts
telephone or door to door fundraising, nor do we contract with any
services that do so. This correspondence is the only way we raise money
for the projects we do.
Thank you for your consideration and continued support.
