“Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world; indeed, it’s the only thing that ever has.”  – Margaret Mead

With this thought in mind, the Truro Police Association continues to look for ways to support our residents and visitors alike. The Truro Police Association is made up of Police Officers and Telecommunicators of the Truro Police Department.  It does not have an affiliation with any union or labor relations group. It is merely a fraternal and charitable organization within the department that allows us to give back to our community.

We support and work closely with the D.A.R.E. program, operated by members of the Truro Police Department.  We participated in the Truro Central Schools “Teachers, Cops & Students”  Basketball game where more than $1000 was raised for the 6th grade field trip to Washington D.C.  Our Open House during Truro Treasures Weekend included K-9 demonstrations, Coast Guard helicopter, face painting, station tours and a complimentary barbeque for all who attended.

We were excited to expand our work this year.  We sponsored Operation Safe Ride, which gave residents a free taxi ride home on New Year’s Eve. Also, members collected, sorted and packed donations for victims of Hurricane Sandy and funded the trip to 3 different collection sites in New York.

Our annual Senior Dinner continues to be a successful and revered event.  Held in March, members of the police and fire departments prepare and cook a four course dinner for our seniors.  We have a huge raffle where nobody leaves empty handed and arrange transportation for those who aren't so mobile.  For the past several years the count has been close to one hundred in attendance. This will be our 20th year

We continue to offer several scholarships to graduating Truro students who seek to further their education at a college or university.  A continuing education scholarship is also awarded to a college student from Truro wishing to continue on.  Our goal has been to increase the amount to our scholarship awards because of forever increasing tuition costs.

You should know that the Truro Police Association never conducts telephone or door to door fundraising, nor do we contract with any services that do so. This correspondence is the only way we raise money for the projects we do.

Thank you for your consideration and continued support.
